Anyone for blue potatoes?

Ever eaten a meal that tasted good but looked awful? It’s funny how important the look of food is. My sister once served blue potatoes as an experiment. Who wants blue potatoes? We must be made that way, because “God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food”. (Genesis 2 v 9)

It’s God’s attention to detail here that speaks about his love. Nutritionally, the trees only need to suffice as a good food source, but it was important to God that we should live in a world we could enjoy, not just survive.

In the speed of life today, we can easily lose sight of that. We put so much into just getting through. And work places seem to be pressuring people harder and harder. But maybe it’s more a habitual attitude of mind, than a genuine lack of time. I’m going to take time today, to look around around and enjoy life, not just survive it.
